I’ve been preaching through the Acts of the Apostles for the past 18 months; in dealing with the Mars Hill passage from Acts 17, I felt the Lord wanted me to become quite pointed in my presentation of the sermon on repentance. At the conclusion, I emphasized the need for all of us to be living lives that are based on a spirit of repentance. When the invitation was given, nine people came forward for prayer – most of these talked with me after the service and spoke of being convicted because of certain habitual sins in their lives and felt they needed to make a public confession of Christ.
